Porcelain Veneers in La Palma
In this video, Dr. Ankit Vasa discusses the different types of issues that porcelain veneers can correct!
What are Porcelain Veneers?
Veneers are thin shells of tooth-colored porcelain that are used to cover the front teeth. If your front teeth are less than perfect, you might have tried a variety of treatments to help correct the issue. Unfortunately, living with cracked, discolored, chipped and unevenly spaced teeth can be detrimental to your confidence and self-esteem. For this reason, it might be a good idea to simply cover the front teeth with new porcelain veneers.
Why would Porcelain Veneers be needed?
The reason you might want veneers is because you’re tired of feeling badly about your smile. Your front teeth might be chipped, discolored, stained, cracked or have spaces and larger gaps between them. Rather than sit for a multitude of cosmetic procedures, veneers simply cover these imperfections to reveal a healthy, full smile. The majority of porcelain veneers placed can last for a decade or longer depending on the care they receive.
Who is a candidate for Porcelain Veneers?
In order to be a candidate for porcelain veneers, your teeth should be otherwise healthy. We will examine your teeth prior to having any veneers made and placed. If you have areas of decay, these will need to be treated prior to any type of veneer being made for you. The majority of our patients who want veneers can safely have them placed in our office.
What happens during the Porcelain Veneer procedure?
The first step to placing veneers is to roughen up the front teeth, making it easier for the veneers to adhere to the teeth. We then take impressions and use these detailed molds to make your new veneers. You will come in for a second appointment to have the permanent veneers placed. This process takes some time, as we want to make sure each veneer looks as natural and realistic as possible. Our patients are often shocked at just how different they look thanks to their new porcelain veneers. To keep the veneers looking their best, be sure to floss around them and brush them twice a day.
