Dentures & Partials in La Palma
What are Dentures & Partials?
A complete or partial denture is designed to replace areas of missing dentition within the mouth. If you’re missing many or all of your teeth, you may find that this is detrimental to your self-esteem and that it makes it difficult for you to eat and chew normally. Dentures are custom made for each patient, and they can last for up to seven years before needing to be replaced. Your new denture offers both restorative as well as cosmetic benefits once it’s been made for you.
Why would you need Dentures & Partials?
Whether you’re missing all of your teeth or are missing a good majority of your smile, replacing what you’re lacking is critical in improving your confidence. A full and healthy-looking smile ensures that you look as young as you feel. Likewise, restoring your smile has restorative benefits. This means that it’ll be easier for you to enjoy the foods that you love without the risk of choking because you’re not chewing everything properly.
What makes you a good candidate for Dentures & Partials?
To determine if you might need a complete or partial denture, we’ll examine your teeth and mouth. Most often, patients who have advanced gum disease and whose teeth are loose or decayed will benefit the most from having these teeth removed and a denture placed. If you still have a lot of your own healthy teeth, we may recommend a partial denture. A partial denture is a prosthetic appliance that only contains the teeth that you’re missing, and it clips firmly in place to look natural.
What happens during the process of making and placing Dentures & Partials?
We first begin the process by taking impressions of your gums and teeth. We then use these impressions to make the actual prosthetic appliance. You’ll come in for a second visit to have the denture placed. We are able to make minor adjustments to the appliance in our office, ensuring that it fits and feels comfortable. You should remove the denture nightly so that it can be cleaned and stored away from pets and small children. The denture should last you for anywhere from five to seven years before you should consider replacing it.
